Yes, a dry disc can also be used for wet applications. (Dry disc can withstand high temperatures - Hardly any heat is created during wet applications )
No, a wet disc should never be used for dry applications. (Wet disc is not designed for high temperatures - A lot of heat is created during dry applications)

Static electricity can lead to inaccurate indication of electric lines. To improve the indication , place your free hand flat on the wall next to the measuring tool in order to remove the static electricity.
It is possible that the wall shields the 50/60 Hz signal, if the cable is lying directly under the screed . It may also happen that the cable lies deeper than the detector maximum range.
